Overview: Branding
Germany passed legalization of cannabis in 2023, so the decade-long company, German Cannabis Standard (GCS) began initiates to start growing and needed help with branding, which included a corporate site, video, logo, e-store, marketing materials, and more.
I was Creative Director and led branding for GCS, it's subsidiary, Cannobiosan, and helped with their marketing campaign, Blütezeit.
German Cannabis Standard
GCS was unique in the cannabis industry for cultivating plants 750 meters underground in a former salt mine—a location so striking that regulators called it one of the most extraordinary they’d seen. This environment shaped the core of the brand identity, inspiring a visual direction centered on verticality and the idea of “going down to bring quality up.”

Cannabiosan
I developed the full branding system, including the logo, brand guide, website, corporate video, pitch decks, documents, and a 3D animation of the mine itself. The focus of all materials was highlighting the mine’s natural advantages and positioning GCS as offering higher-quality products at lower cost.
Cannabiosan was GCS’s medical brand and needed a look that felt clean and clinical while still connected to the parent company. I designed a brighter, softer visual language with modular layouts to support future scalability.
Blütezeit
For the logo, I adapted an unused concept from the GCS process—a leaf-based infinity-like symbol that continued the brand’s vertical theme in a more medical tone. I also designed the e-commerce site, including a questionnaire flow for compliance and personalized product recommendations.
Blütezeit was GCS’s membership club, created to align with Germany’s upcoming legalization model based on cannabis social clubs. After the initial identity was created by a Berlin agency, I expanded and refined the brand assets for launch.
